Alex was admitted to practice as an attorney at law in 1982. Between 1982 and 1997 he worked for the state enterprises Trintoc (now Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin) (a company engaged in exploration, production and refining of petroleum products), Caroni (1975) Limited (sugar producer and refiner) and Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited (wholesale and retail marketer of fuels for land and marine transportation including compressed natural gas and operator of service stations) as a Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. During this period he gained extensive experience in corporate law and company secretarial practice, all aspects of petroleum operations from exploration to retail petroleum marketing and land law. In March 1997, he joined the practice of De Nobriga Inniss & Co (now Lex Caribbean) as a Senior Associate and became a Partner in April 1999. Alex’s main areas of practice are oil and gas exploration, concession/off take agreements and downstream oil and gas contracts. He has worked on a number of high profile transactions including the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited gas pipeline project and the Atlas Methanol project. Alex’s other areas of expertise include insolvency and receivership, corporate law, retail banking and secured lending transactions in Trinidad and Tobago. Alex has also worked extensively on finance transactions throughout the Eastern Caribbean, Guyana and Suriname. Alex also has extensive experience in real property transactions including property developments and residential and commercial Conveyancing. Alex left Lex Caribbean to form the firm of Chancellors on 1st May, 2004. |
